Chapter 2: Shadowbanned + Next Steps!
Hello everyone.
I am unsure who will get to see this post since I (currently?) believe myself to be shadow banned after the itch.io adult content purge last night, completely unprompted, by payment processors like Visa and Mastercard. They told itch.io to take down any content they did not agree with, resulting in the ban of over 21,000 games, and the shadow ban of my game (which was marked as adult because of the intense blood/gore/violence implementations; it has no extra content in the current build).
I now am stuck with a hard decision to make going forward about how to approach launching my new game, Hunted, which was going to release with extra content in mind. I also planned for SBH to get extra content as well in the future. With itch.io's current stance on the issue, I cannot promise those things will now happen (even though the official guidelines from the payment processors was only inc*st, r*pe, and child related issues, which my games will NEVER have), itch.io has decided to purge all extra games and manually hand review them, which will take the small development team that they have close to MONTHS or YEARS to get games out to the public that have to be reviewed.
In short, I don't really know where to move going forward with my extra content plans. I am still going to work on my games completely, and if they have to be released without any extra content then so be it - you guys getting the experience of the games is worth way more to me if itch.io does not change their mind on the ruling anytime soon.
There is an active petition you can sign here which helps the cause greatly against this censorship.
If you want to support me, I recommend going to my Patreon instead where I will now be more active in development steps and ideas of what to do next regarding these issues, and if I need to ultimately make any big decisions.
Make sure you are supporting your other creators/developers at this time who need it and might have been impacted greatly! My most important recommendation if you haven't played it yet would be Cat's game, Bound By Fate! She has been impacted by the ban and could use the love and support. <3
Overall, thank you guys for the support and even with the ongoing issues I'm not going anywhere! My games, even if they have to be changed, will get to you guys so you can enjoy them, as that's the most important part to me :)

Awful world we live in. To think this game is shadowbanned and there's barely any adult content yet, nor does it break TOS... Here's hoping this stupid movement ends so we can create and consume whatever content we want 😔

Wait, what? This is crazy! Do you have all of your games saved externally? I have Speared By Heart downloaded - do you have/know of any other games that are at risk?
yeah!! a lot of yandere games are bc of the nature of the game, so make sure to download them! i can promise i have all of mine backed up twice, and I will also make sure to finish my games despite what's going on even if I have to change some content so they can pass, just so you guys can still experience it! <3 -stealth

I hope we'll know where autjors and games go and that itch.io will come back to some sense but it's a big hope.
